This course offers students an opportunity to work from a life model in clay. Beginners will be shown a step by step approach to figure modelling and work with more advanced students to push their work forward in their own way. This is an opportunity to build a firm foundation of modelling skills, whilst thinking creatively and exploring different styles of sculpture in clay from archaic to modern eras. Later in the course, students will produce larger pieces in clay inspired by the Modernist era and the Renaissance of Primitive Art. There will be an option to have the piece hollowed and fired after the end of the course, for collection of approximately 6-8 weeks later for a fee. Students will complete a minimum of 3 sculptures that do not have the expense of moulding and casting.
Jessica Wetherly has developed a practice that works in transition across drawing, sculpture and installation. She trained at The Art Academy and Central St. Martins and has practised with a variety of international sculptors. She has exhibited at a number of national exhibitions and demonstrations, as well as Public and Private Commissions.
