This course is about creating compositions featuring portraits and figures, with an emphasis on the placement of the figure within space. Providing an exciting opportunity to develop skills in figure painting, the versatile course is designed to give a broad and varied understanding of figurative painting, portraiture, design and composition, monotone & colour painting techniques, and the use of acrylic & oil paint. As well as developing figure-painting skills, it will focus on understanding the tools of image making, design process, the formal elements of constructing figurative artworks, and how to create pictures that combine people and places with interest and substance. This course is suitable for beginners and those more experienced in painting.

Carl Randall is a graduate of The Slade of Fine Art, BA, Painting, The Princes Drawing School, the Drawing Year, and Tokyo University of Fine Arts, MA & Doctorate, Fine Art. He is a previous 1st prize winner of The Sunday Times Watercolour Competition, and the 2012 BP Travel Award.
