This is a structured course that will assist you in a further understanding of abstract painting. Over the ten weeks you will examine different approaches to abstraction. As a group you will analyse the work of both contemporary and key practitioners from the past. This will form an integral part of the course using other artist as inspiration and guidance to create your own body of works exploring similar techniques.

Magdalena Blasinska gained a BA at Edinburgh College of Art and is currently studying for an MA at the Royal College of Art. Her very specific way of looking and thinking about paint has always determined her practice resulting in constant experimentation with surfaces and painting materials. Previous exhibitions include: WiP Royal College of Art; Here/Now Royal Scottish Academy/Edinburgh Art Festival, RCA:NC New Contemporaries 2010 Royal Scottish Academy.
